Cardamom and seeds from Guatemala

About the project

The Guatemalan Cardamom and Seed Farmers Association project represents an ambitious step forward in the cardamom agroindustry. The Guatemalan Cardamom and Seed Farmers Association has adopted an innovative approach to improve cardamom traceability from the post-harvest stage, committing to employing cutting-edge technologies covering the drying, sorting, and packaging processes. With an ideal infrastructure already in place, including essential machinery and equipment, the association strives to optimize quality and efficiency, increasing the value of its entire production.

The Cardamom and Seed Farmers Association of Guatemala’s commitment to traceability not only improves the quality and price of cardamom in the market but also ensures significant benefits for associated producers and the community. More than 1,000 people are indirectly benefited by job creation and the strengthening of post-harvest practices. This improvement in the cardamom value chain aligns with the association’s mission to promote sustainable cultivation and improve the quality of life of producers in the region, while fostering strategic alliances and opening international markets.

Since its establishment in July 2022, the Guatemalan Cardamom and Seed Farmers Association has kept an eye on the future, supporting sustainability through environmentally friendly agricultural practices and always seeking to improve the purity and productivity of cardamom. It focuses on supporting farmers with technical assistance, access to credit, and development programs, in order to establish fair trade and equitable commercial relations.

Guatemalan cardamom, through the Association of Cardamom and Seed Farmers of Guatemala, has become a food product of global importance, distributed in grain and in packages to various international markets, including the Middle East, Europe, Asia and America. This is a testament to the quality and commitment of the association, which keeps its international certifications up to date to satisfy global consumers. The Association of Cardamom and Seed Farmers of Guatemala opens its doors to all producers in the country, offering export services and the promise of being a reliable and beneficial commercial ally anywhere in the world.

This project not only represents a step forward for the cardamom agroindustry but is also a model of comprehensive development, collaboration, and sustainability for Guatemala and the global agricultural sector. The Cardamom and Seed Farmers Association of Guatemala is located in Guatemala, poised to positively impact the country's economy and environment.
