GOALS
The objectives of the Guatemalan Cardamom and Seed Farmers Association project are:
Improve Post-Harvest Traceability: Implement advanced technology to track and improve the traceability of cardamom during the drying, sorting and packaging processes.
Increase Product Quality: Ensure that all processed cardamom meets the highest quality standards, thereby improving its value in the global market.
Optimization of processes: Modernize and improve the efficiency of post-harvest processes to increase productivity and profitability for the members of the Guatemalan Farmers and Seeds Association.
Institutional strengthening: Develop the organizational and operational capacity of the Guatemalan Farmers and Seeds Association to effectively support all its members.
Technical Assistance and Training: Provide associated producers with ongoing training and technical assistance to apply best agricultural and management practices.
Employment creation: Generate direct and indirect employment through the expansion of operations and the improvement of processes, benefiting more than 1000 people in the community.
Promote Sustainability: Promote environmentally friendly farming practices, including the efficient use of natural resources such as water and the implementation of organic farming methods.
Fair Trade Promotion: Establish fair and transparent commercial relationships that ensure equitable prices and favorable conditions for cardamom producers.
Market Expansion: Develop and strengthen strategic alliances for the opening and consolidation of international markets for Guatemalan cardamom.
Investigation and development: Drive innovation through research and development of new techniques and processes to improve the purity and properties of the cardamom produced.
Access to Financial Resources: Facilitate access to credit and other financial resources for farmers, in order to support the expansion and modernization of their operations.
These objectives are aimed at ensuring comprehensive, sustainable and equitable development for cardamom producers in Guatemala, improving the competitiveness of the product worldwide and contributing to the economic and social well-being of the communities involved.
